CEEES - Supporting NOAA's Storm Surge Forecasting Mandate
STOFS-2D-Global is NOAA's operational global storm surge and tide forecasting system. The Computational Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) at Notre Dame is actively involved in its development. Currently, we are focused on refining its spatial resolution to one day deliver street-level guidance. To achieve this goal, we need models that incorporate previously neglected civil features like buildings and raised highways and railways. We invite curious students to join us as we explore this area together.

Why join this research group or lab?
The CHL's developments transition to NOAA operations. By more accurately and efficiently predicting total water levels globally, we are enhancing disaster preparedness and activities such as navigation.
