EE - Radio Frequency Sensing with Software Defined Radios

The research involves the investigation of non-contact sensing via the transmission and reception of radio frequency signals using software defined radios.  The anticipated application involves the detection of heart-induced responses from different body sections (e.g., torso, ankle, wrist) to estimate response delays between the measurement sites.  For this application, the student(s) would participate in measurements and subsequent analysis of the collected data.  An alternative would involve the analysis of previously collected data for a different applications, where the objective of the research would be to characterize phenomena elicited from the collected data sets.
