Quantitative Image Analysis of Colon Tissue
Project Description:
This undergraduate research project will focus on quantitative analysis of histological images of mouse colon tissue. The student will learn to develop reproducible image-processing and quantification workflows using ImageJ/Fiji. The resulting data will be analyzed across two disease groups for collagen levels with the goal of contributing to a scientific publication. If time permits, the project may also include simple ODE-based modeling of immune-cell interactions to complement the experimental findings.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students interested in biomedical research, image analysis, or computational biology; no prior experience required.
Objectives:
Develop and apply ImageJ/Fiji workflows to quantify colon tissue images and analyze experimental differences.
- Generate publication-quality results and, if time permits, explore ODE modeling of immune-cell interactions.
