Professor Lu is an Associate Professor of the Practice in Biological Sciences and the Undergraduate Research Director for the College of Science. In this role, she administers the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF), as well as the Fall Undergraduate Research Fair (FURF) and the College of Science Joint Annual Meeting (COS-JAM). She is interested in the application of modern technologies to personalized medicine. In the era of post-genomics, large scale sequencing data have been made available at a much cost-effective manner, allowing efficient study of individual genomes. Meanwhile, annotation and interpretation of the genomic data and its clinical relevance are the areas with active research in both academia and industry. Personalized medicine, i.e. precision medicine, at its current stage and in future, holds great promise for individualized disease prevention and treatment.
